Welcome to the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Early Help Practitioner Portal for professionals in all organisations working with children, young people and families.

BCP Council Early Help & Targeted Intervention Service are launching our Early Help Access Point on Monday 3rd March 2025.

This process does not replace the MASH and If you’re a member of the public, or a professional with concerns about a child please contact: Children's First Response MASH - BCP Council

The Early Help Access Point will ensure that families and young people contacting, or being referred to, the BCP Early Help and Targeted Intervention Service are accessing the correct level of support and intervention from BCP, where this is required.

The Early Help Access Point will consider the support on offer from the wider Early Help Partnership so that support for families is community focused, and needs led.

Before you contact us:

Have you looked online? Many answers to your questions can be found on the Online Family Hub:  Welcome to your online family hub and the UpInBCP website

Have you obtained consent from the family to speak to us and/or seek services for them? We are not able to accept requests for support without evidence of consent from the family that they have agreed to this.

Has a ‘Family Network Meeting’ (FNM) been held?  This can help you bring together the family and the professionals they are working with, to create an outcome-focused plan appropriate to the family’s needs. Our team in the Early Help Access Point can advise you on good practice for FNM’s if you need support with this.

Have you submitted an Enquiry Form? This will allow you to find out if another professional has already undertaken a Pre-assessment or Full assessment.

Have you carried out a Pre-assessment or Early Help Assessment with the family? These tools will support the provision of the right service to families.

BCP Council are developing training to support you to build your understanding of the Pre-Assessment and Early Help Assessment, so that we can support you to help identify a family’s needs and who to connect them with. Information will be available to you as this offer is rolled out.
